February 25, 2018 Leviticus 9,10; Matthew 25

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

HOLY | Susan Aken

S~ “And Moses said to Aaron, ‘This is what the LORD spoke saying: ‘By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; and before all people I must be glorified.’ So Aaron held his peace.” Leviticus 10:3 (NKJV)

O~ Aaron’s two sons disobeyed God and offered fire He did not command. They decided to be in charge instead of waiting on the LORD’s command. He killed them with fire. Then Moses reminded Aaron that God has told them that those who come to Him must remember to regard Him as holy. So Aaron was silent. Aaron did not question the death of his sons. Holy (to consecrate, sanctify, be hallowed, be holy, be separate)

A~ I wonder if we can grasp what God’s holiness means? Do I really understand what it means that God is holy? Do I regard Him as holy when I come to Him? Aaron understood. To the point that he did not question the death of his sons. In chapter 11, verses 44 and 45, God says, “…you shall be holy; for I am holy.” I know that Jesus was the perfect sacrifice that brought us near to God but God is still holy. A concept I am not sure we grasp in today’s world. We too often are so casual about God. He is perfect; there is not even one hint of sin or anything evil in Him. Sin and evil will never exist in heaven with Him. He is 100% pure, holy, righteous and true. We, as sinful human beings, could never stand before Him if Jesus had not made it possible.

P~ LORD God, Help me to remember your holiness. Help me to always come to you in respect of your holiness. Apart from Jesus, I could never stand before you and live.

Eyes on the Goal | Tara Wiley

S~ The master said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together.” To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. – Matthew 25:23, 29 (NLT)

O~ For some reason today this passage scares me – given MORE? I can barely manage what I’ve already been given. I don’t want MORE. But this is what I hear You remind me: It’s not too much more for YOU.

A/P~ I also feel sorrow because I think there were seasons in my life when I was a better steward of Your gifts than I am now. So, Lord, let the passage do its work – move me towards being a better steward. You have given me so VERY much. Help me to be faithful with all of it – finances, family, talent, friends, and newfound health. Help me invest every aspect for eternity. I want to touch lives for YOU. I want to celebrate one day with You, celebrate all You’ve done. When I am tempted to get lazy and distracted, remind me of all YOU can do and of the eternal reward and party waiting for me when I am faithful. Help me keep my eyes on the goal!
