“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Someone else, please! | guest post
S~ But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” Exodus 4:13 (NIV)
O~ God is speaking to Moses through the burning bush. The Lord is telling Moses to lead His people out of Egypt to the promised land. Moses questions God several times about his lack of abilities, but here Moses is finally getting to the point – send someone else, not me.
A~ I feel so good most days – clear headed, energized, no headaches. So different than one year ago. Yet a year ago, I had no idea how bad I really felt, ’till I started feeling good.
And now after a year of seeing my health and lifestyle in a different light, my body is slowly starting to heal from all the changes I’ve made. This is great news!
And as my body changes and I see people who don’t necessarily know and understand everything I’ve learned and done the last year – they ask, ‘What have you been doing?’
My answer is a whole, big thing, not a single sentence like, ‘drink water and exercise.’ My answer is really a testimony to my God, who has answered my prayer and lead me down a path that I wouldn’t have picked for myself, but I’m so thankful.
But I want to be like Moses and tell God to have someone else do it. I want my response to people to be easy and simple and have nothing to do with my faith and trusting Christ more and more.
I just keep coming back to my health. It’s going in the right direction and I’m feeling really good. And people see that. But my health is temporary. And I think my health is something that God can use to take what is temporary and turn it to eternal. I have to be bold and allow God to work through me though.
P~ Abba, thank You so much! I just love You! I love Your Word! I also love this newfound passion of health that I’ve never known. Please use this for Your Kingdom! Always You first though! Health is a gift, but You are the true gift that all of us need! Give me Your words to convey that in upcoming conversations and interactions.

S~ Jesus also did many other things. If they were written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25 (NLT)
O~ John gave an account of the things he witnessed to show that Jesus was (is) the Son of God. These were just a few of those things – there were many more things Jesus did.
A~ I wonder what my book would look like if I recorded all the things – all the incredible miracles – You have done for me, and for those around me. How many things would I write down in a day? A week? A month? A year? …My life?
Rev. 12:11 says that we will overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony (a formal written or spoken statement; evidence or proof provided by the existence or appearance of something). Of what does my testimony – my life’s story – show evidence? If I am not waking up each day, empowered by the Spirit, to live a life that shows evidence of Christ – what is my story? What is being written?
Can you imagine what a life would look like if it were approached in that way? Imagine the adventures! Imagine the stories! Imagine the irrefutable evidence I could gather about my own life!
I remember my friend, Pastor Lance Burch, saying, “Those that hear and obey the Word of God live extraordinary lives. Don’t believe me? Read your Bible – it’s full of those kind of people.” And hearing that sparked something in me. That – that extraordinary life – was what I wanted.
But if I’m honest, my story isn’t quite as exciting as I’d like for it to be, which makes me wonder if I’m living too comfortable – if I’m playing it safe. What adventures are You calling me to, Jesus? What pages are You longing to write that contain outrageous unbelievable moments that reveal Your glory?
P~ God, help me. Help me to live a life that reflects Your presence, Your power, Your love, and Your peace. Help me to live an extraordinary life that gives evidence of You. Amen
