“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Awe of God | guest post
S~ “Take this baby and nurse him for me, ” the princess told the baby’s mother. “I will pay you for your help.” So the woman took her baby home and nursed him. Exodus 2:9 (NLT)
O~ This story! Every time I read how Moses was rescued from the Nile, then placed BACK into his own Hebrew family, I’m in awe. Then God sets it up so Moses’ mom even gets paid to nurse her own kid!! Seriously?!?
A~ I think God has a characteristic in Him to awe His kids. He’s so powerful, big, creative, sovereign over the tiniest detail, but still awes and woos us. He awed me last night at bible study. Laughter, tears, truth, wrestlings with God, messiness of life were laid down. I think we all just walked away in awe of Him!
P~ Father, You are sooooo good! Thank You for never ceasing to awe me!
Remembering the Schenzels | Kim Chipman
S~ “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5 (NIV)
O~ Moses saw a burning bush and though it was on fire it did not burn up. When he approached it, God began speaking to him.
A~ Today as I read this I am reminded of Ty and Terri Schenzel. Ty and Terri were amazing lovers of Jesus and did ministry so well. They died together in a car crash 2 1/2 years ago. Ty would always preach without shoes on because he felt the pulpit was holy ground. Interestingly, in Ty’s last sermon he taught about The Divine Mentor and SOAP journaling. He talks about how God “ruins you” with His presence when you can encounter Him for Yourself…he talks about being lovesick to be with Jesus. I just listened to his sermon again and my heart is full and happy 🙂 You can listen, too HERE Love me some pastor Ty
This verse today just brings a flood of memories right back to my heart and makes me smile. They had such a heart for marriage and family. Terri was a speaker at a retreat I helped organize and she spoke about God’s love. It was so powerful. She also sat with me over coffee and asked the hard questions, engaged deeply, encouraged me toward Jesus in such a beautiful, challenging, intimate, non-judgemental, loving way. They were such genuine, real people who loved BIG. They lived out love so well. There will never be another Ty and Terri. After they passed there was a memorial page set up on Facebook and people still post there regularly…2 1/2 years after they are gone. While I feel no pressure to “be” Terri, I am again inspired by her life. I want my life to impact the world for You – starting inside my own home, with my own family – like theirs did.
P~ Lord, help me to love well. Thank You for the Schenzel’s life. I sure miss them, but am inspired to live and love well like they did, for Your glory. I love You!
