Peace is greater than trouble! | Deanna George

S~ I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (NIV)

O~ We will have struggles, trials, and troubles. Rats, no promise of a carefree life!!

A~ Even though trouble will be a part of my life, I can still claim peace. Why? Because Jesus already fought the fight. He already overcame the world. He promised to never leave me. We have Jesus in our corner. I am claiming peace. I am choosing God’s peace over worrying, self-doubt, and anger. I am choosing to re-direct my thinking by praying, reading the Bible, and listening to praise music. In other words, I am going to shut down the negativity that tries to take a stronghold on my thoughts. I am allowing my heart and soul to receive his peace.

P~ Lord Jesus, thank you for not only fighting for me, but also for winning. Your life paid the ultimate sacrifice so that I may have, peace, joy, love, support, and guidance. In my times of trouble, please remind me that peace is available. I love how I feel when your peace takes over. Unfortunately my tendency is to wallow in my misery. Thankfully, I remember that I don’t have to live like that. I want to live in faith and peace. Please continue to remind me that peace is an option when life gets hard. Do I want yo receive it? Thank you for loving me so much that you died for me.

Your Word | Kelley Deases

S~ Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17 (NIV)

O~ Jesus is encouraging his disciples to take the Word of God, the Truth, and go forth. Through the Word comes sanctification and transformation.

A~ Ever since God pressed upon my heart the life-changing power that comes from being in His Word, He has given me this message to share. I have had opportunity to speak with middle and high school students during chapel time, share at a women’s retreat, teach classes at my church and lead an ongoing Bible study, which over the course of several years, has touched the lives of quite a few women. In a few cases, I have specifically gotten to see the fruit which came of sharing my heart:

*  “The SOAP method has truly awakened and excited my heart to learn more about God.” This came from a faithful member of my Bible study, who also taught her eldest daughter to be in the Word daily and journal what she hears from God.
*  A member of a life group of which I used to be a part gained a new fervor for reading God’s Word.
*  My husband sat through one of the classes I taught and discovered a fresh way to enter into God’s presence. He has shared with countless friends and coworkers.
*  An older couple who took my class began to read the Bible together each morning and check this blog to read what our team members are gleaning from the daily reading.
*  Another friend discovered her notebook from my class as she was preparing to lead a Bible study over in Germany, where she now lives. She is also taking comfort from God’s Word during a personal trial she is facing.
P~ Father, Thank You for revealing to me all that is available to me — the toolbox for leading a great life — through Your Word. Renew and sustain my fervor to cling to it daily and to share my passion with still others.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
