Claim God’s Word for You | Deanna George

S~ Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children. But you have said, ‘I will surely make you prosper and will make your descendants like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.’ ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭32:11-12‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

O~ Jacob asks for for help. Jacob reminds God that he said he would have so many descendants that he can’t count them. He knew exactly how many he had with him, so in other words ~ God’s word still needs to be revealed.

A~ Claim God’s word.

Seek God for wisdom on what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

Work hard like Jacob did.

Be obedient. When God tells me to move ~ then MOVE. When he says to wait ~ then WAIT.

P~ Lord Jesus, I may not have a big directive like you gave Jacob, but you have given me smaller ones. Some of the smaller ones have been hard to follow. Right now, I am having a hard time stepping out of my comfort zone. You have pushed me out and said you would be right there helping me the entire time. It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s that I let my self doubt take over. I want to be like Jacob. You said go and he went. Jacob went back not knowing if he was going to be accepted or killed. He claimed your word for his life. I am striving to be more like Jacob. I am claiming that you will be right there with me as I step out of my comfort zone and do what you have called me to do. Let’s get this done together.

Brothers Reunited! | Joni Tyner

S~ Then Esau ran to meet him and embraced him, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him. And they both wept.  Genesis 33:4 (NLT)   (the twin brothers of Isaac—Jacob and Esau reuniting after a bitter feud)

O~ It was 20 plus years ago that Jacob and his mother plotted to cheat Esau out of his birthright by tricking Isaac with a goat skin which resulted in Jacob leaving the country.  This scripture is referring to when he came back to his home country and sees his brother for the first time.

A~ This scripture stood out to me because I picture Esau as this big, burly hot-tempered dude who was really, really mad at his pampered brother.  I just love thinking about him running to see his brother and hugging and kissing him.  This is serious forgiveness.  I know this is old testament scripture (pre-Jesus) but was a beautiful example of grace and restoration.  I think they both had valid reason to be mad and hold grudges but somehow, they got past this and moved forward in their relationship.  God grew their maturity to be able to get to this point.  Wow!!!  I love this!

P~ Dear Lord, examine my heart and remove any anger, resentment or pride that strains relationships in my life. I also pray for readers that have difficult/ strained relationships.  Sweet Jesus, You know the details, the pain, the words said, the actions by people.  Please mend their hearts and pour grace into their lives.  I pray that these relationships might have new life through You.
