Girls Are Shepherds, Too | Kimi MIller

S~ Jacob was still talking with them when Rachel arrived with her father’s flock, for she was a shepherd. Genesis 29:9 (NLT)

O~  Rachel was a shepherd. She was responsible for caring for her father’s flock.

A~ When I finished my theology degree, my dear friend and mentor gave me a print of Rachel meeting Jacob at the well. He simply said, “I’ve always believed women can lead sheep to The Well, too. Not just the men.” It is one of the most precious and meaningful gifts I have ever received.

I still struggle with the title “pastor,” not because I’m a woman, but because of the weight and responsibility it carries. It certainly wasn’t something I was looking for, or striving to become, but I believe You called me into the role, for “such a time as this.”

I don’t know what the future holds, or what adventures are still before me, but I know that Your plans are far greater than my own. So, wherever you call me, whatever you call me to, I will go.

P~ I pray, Father, that I have pleased You – You alone, above all of man – may my dedication and service to Your flock be found worthy of your acceptance. Thank You for Your Spirit inside me – guiding me and providing me direction. You have been so faithful to provide people, resources, and ideas. You have been so, so good to me, ans so faithful. Thank You, Father. Thank you for this leg of the journey and for all the amazing women (and men) I have met. Thank You for using this season to soften my heart, and increase my compassion. I can do nothing – certainly not any of this – without You. I love You, Daddy. I pray and hope that when I stand before You at the end of the race, my heart would hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
