Wondering | Kimi Miller

S~ The servant watched her in silence, wondering whether or not the Lord had given him success in his mission. (Genesis 24:21 NLT)

O~ Eliezer was Abraham’s oldest servant, so no doubt he had seen God’s favor on Abraham. He asked God for a specific “sign” so that he could be sure this was the woman God had picked for Isaac. And yet, when he saw it, “he wondered whether or not the Lord had given him success in his mission.”

A/P~ Boy! Do I know how Eliezer felt. Those moments where I’ve asked You to show me if I was doing the right thing, and then You do, but I still wonder. I hear You tell me it’s okay; that You know my heart, but I still feel bad that I doubt sometimes. Please forgive me. Thank You for not giving up on me. I love You. Amen

Special Scripture, My 2018 Word | Joni Tyner

S~ You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.

Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees!

Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands.  Psalm 119:4-6 (NLT) (emphasis is mine)

O~ The psalmist (my Bible says possibly Ezra) is encouraging readers to keep God’s commandments and be consistent in their actions.

A~ I had coffee with some friends last weekend and we were talking about what goals we have for 2018 and a couple of us had a “one word”.  I told them I had felt over the past year that God was nudging to just keep showing up with reading and journaling from the Bible.  That I needed to “show up” for my kids when they seem indifferent to spending time with me.  I also wanted to be consistent in investing in my marriage, to fight the drift of complacency.   Hey! That’s it!!Consistent.  I want to be consistent in my actions by being the same person the first week in January as the end of the year.  I don’t need to strive for perfection, just be consistent in loving God and loving people.

P~ Dear Lord, You know me so well, I get grandiose ideas and then tend to fizzle out.  Please pour commitment into my DNA so that I am found to be a faithful servant.  I know every good thing starts from You—give me a hunger and unsettling each day until I read Your Word.  I pray for understanding so that I can put Your Word into action.  I also pray for discernment to know what “life things” to let go so that I can focus on better things—the assignments You have for me.  I love You.
