Grow My Trust | Kim Chipman
S~ Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” Genesis 17:17 (NIV)
O~ It’s helpful to see this great man of faith still had doubts. He laughed at what God said He would do.
A~ I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way sometimes. There are things I’m sure I’ve given up on because they seem unbelievable to me. My brain knows that You are God and can do anything, but honestly I know there are things I just laugh to myself about. Unlike Abraham I don’t always stay the course and believe in faith that You CAN. I just laugh and give up thinking is possible.
Help me to see where I’ve given up. Where have I stopped trusting and believing? Where have I stopped obeying because I just don’t see how change is possible?
P~ Lord, I believe, but help my unbelief! Grow my trust even when I can’t see how it’s possible. Grow me. Change me. I need You. I love You!
God is funny too! | guest post
S~ Sarah was afraid, so she denied it, saying, “I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said, “No, you did laugh.” Genesis 18:15 (NLT)
O~ Some men were traveling and stopped to rest with Sarah and Abraham. One of them said Sarah would have a baby in a year and Sarah laughed inside herself, probably because she was 89 years old.
A~ I just love this verse! When I read it, it makes me laugh. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be funny, but God’s response is so matter of fact to Sarah.
P~ Thank You Lord for humor and laughter and fun and smiles. Sometimes, I get so overwhelmed with the seriousness of following You and making Your name known that I forget about laughing. I love to laugh, You do too, You made laughter 🙂
