Let it be written | Kelley Deases
S~ Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord; … Psalm 102:18 (NIV)
O~ My Bible margin note informs me this psalm may have been penned by an exile living in Babylon. One of the motivations behind keeping a record of what transpired would have been for future generations to be able to read and know.
A~ I have written countless words, paragraphs, essays and documents over the course of my life. School papers and reports as a child and young adult. Legal memoranda and judicial opinions as a staff attorney. Recipes, to-do lists, Christmas cards, emails and various correspondence over the years. These days I am writing grant proposals to foundations and corporations seeking funding for Heartland Hope Mission, a food pantry serving low-income families where I work.
But one of the most important things I will ever write are these SOAP notes, where I seek to ascertain from God’s Word a piece of wisdom I can use for my life. I don’t know if “people not yet created” will ever peruse my journals or come across this blog, but these represent important moments where I sought out God through His Word and He responded with what I needed for that day. I was faithful to write His truth as it came to me.
P~ Father, Thank You for giving me a love and an aptitude for writing. But, even more, thank You for drawing me to Your Word so I can read and write about the most significant things — Your love, Your promises, Your guidance, Your truth.
