Even If | Joni Tyner

S~ If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up. Daniel 3:17-18 (NLT)

O~ Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are telling King Nebuchadnezzar that they believe that God will save their lives in this crisis.  The second part is where I think the true faith shows up.  “even if he doesn’t.”  My Bible notes share that if God showed up and rescued every Christian through every circumstance, they would not need faith.  People would be Christians because of the “insurance policy “ and what God did for them, not for truly loving God for who He is.

A~ I think when I really understood this scripture, it was a turning point in my faith.  I made the decision that I’m going to choose to  believe, no matter what.  I love this song, it so accurately portrays this scripture.

P~ Jesus, thank you for holding and carrying me, You are enough.

Bold, Fearless Faith | Kim Chipman

S~ Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God…for no other god can save in this way.” Daniel 3:28, 29b (NIV)

O~ Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego trusted God to save them, even to the point of being thrown in a fiery furnace. They walked out untouched. They were willing to follow God…even if He didn’t save them because they loved Him and would never worship another god, as the king had commanded. The king praised God after seeing their faith and God’s power!

A~ Ultimately, I want my life to show this as well. I want to live a life of bold, fearless faith so that others can see how awesome You are. That “no other god can save in this way”. That others would see YOU through me.

I’m pretty sure Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were amazed at what you did, too. I love it when I can see You at work. I love it when I believe the apparently impossible and it happens. It grows my faith as well.

P~ Lord, grow my bold, fearless faith. Help me to step out into the deep waters with You and trust You with out fear. You are able. I love You!
