His Word is sweet! | guest post

S~ Then He said to me: “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.”  So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. Ezekiel 3:3 (NIV)

O~ This was an encounter between Jesus and Ezekiel.  The Lord is calling Ezekiel as a prophet to the rebellious nation of Israel.  This scroll that Ezekiel ate had words of lament, mourning, and woe on it.  Yet when Ezekiel ate it, it was sweet like honey.

A~ The places in the bible where a scroll or words from the Lord were eating, it was always sweet.  It may have turned sour in the stomach, but always sweet tasting.  Also, in nature, sweet plants indicate safety to eat.

The last six months I have been consistently inconsistent in my time with God’s Word.  As I’m hunting for the reasoning behind it – I believe I’m choosing comfort over growth.  I’m digging my heels a bit because my heart can’t handle anymore being shaped like Jesus.

As I write that, I’m so convicted!  In my heart and mind, I’m good with the person that the Lord has made me to be.  Yet, I’m still breathing – God isn’t done with me yet!  He is still preparing me for my real life – eternity in heaven with Him.

So circling back to His Word for my heart today.  It’s sweet!  God’s Word is ALWAYS sweet.  It may not sit well in me because I fall short ALL the time and need His Word to direct me back on His path.  But His Word is always sweet and safe for me!  So I need to get up, and go to His Word FIRST thing every day!

P~ Thank You!  I trust You!

My Primary Ministry | Kelley Deases

S~ Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you. Mark 5:19 (NIV)

O~ After being healed of demon possession, this man’s first inclination was to follow Jesus as he traveled around and ministered to others. But Jesus tells this restored man to stay put and share his testimony with his own family.

A~ This note will be published on my youngest son’s 10th birthday. This reading is a good reminder of how my little boy is my first ministry priority. I can host Bible studies, write for a blog, teach a class or speak before a crowd, but my first obligation is to this young one I helped bring into the world. For my older son, who is out of the house and married, a lot of my work is done. As for my husband, we support one another. But with this boy, I am constantly called to teach and train and nurture and correct and encourage and pray. Sometimes it’s not easy, but he is such a gift. I never want to lose sight of his value to us as his parents, to God and to others who have the good fortune to know him.

P~ Father, Thank You for my primary ministry during this season, being a mom to Christian.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
