Sear this into my every thought Lord! | guest post

S~ I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” Lamentations 3:24 (NIV)

O/A~ I’ve fallen habit to relying on my own intellect and resources when life happens.  The Lord is showing me that He is in control, I’ve walked away from that.  When Scripture comes out of my mouth first and my head starts repeating this over and over, then I’m allowing the Lord to be my portion instead of me.

P~ Father, You are my portion, therefore, I will wait for You!

Nothing Stays Hidden | Kelley Deases

S~ For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. Mark 4:22 (NIV)

O~  It seems every day we turn on the news and hear about another Hollywood big shot, big screen celebrity, music producer or power broker who has misused his influence or position to harass or abuse other people. Years later, these misdeeds are coming to light resulting in public humiliation, loss of reputation, civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions. Jesus’ words ring true, yet again, when He says how our secrets and hidden actions will sooner or later be revealed.

A~ We were just saying Bible study the other day how it is so freeing to be able to be transparent with one another. We truly want to create a safe space to share our burdens and struggles and even sin, so that we might be encouraged and supported as we seek to return to the fold and be restored.

P~ Lord, Help me to be an open book with my life and my testimony, so I might not harbor secret sin and so I can show myself authentic to those around me who may have similar hurts and struggles.

Listen and Receive | Joni Tyner

S~ Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given–and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.  Mark 4:24-25  (NLT)

O~ Jesus is explaining to the disciples the teaching in the parables.  My Bible notes say that as we put God’s teaching into practice will we understand and see more of the truth.  The truth is clear, but our ability to understand is imperfect.  As we obey, we will sharpen our vision and increase our understanding. (James 1:22-25)

A/P~ The more I seek You, the more I want to know You.  Please remind me of this known truth because I am so prone to fall into a pattern of doing other things instead of connecting with You or reading Your Word.  I want to display of life that shows spiritual growth and faithfulness. Please help me with the discipline of choosing You before I give my time to less important activities. (like everything!)  I want to have clear vision for Your purpose for my life and have the courage to make choices that reflect that.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
