I Am the Clay | Deanna George
S~ He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. Jeremiah 18:6 (NIV)
O~ I am the clay! Who/What is molding me?
A~ I so want to say that God is molding me, but that is not true 100% of the time. I know that I allow other influences into my thoughts and beliefs. I know I look for answers/guidance from sources other than my Bible (it can end up being my last resort, instead of first source). I know I push back on nudgings from the Holy Spirit to correct my attitude, to stop participating in activities that are not in line with God’s word, and when he wants me to step out of my comfort zone. I can make it difficult to be molded. God is at the potter’s table. Do I want to be created into a beautiful piece of art? Do I want to be the best that he can make me? Do I want to face the reality that I can and do make imperfections in the piece of art through my decisions and actions? Am I willing and ready to be molded and tweaked on a daily basis? Absolutely! Is it always easy? NO! If it was easy, then I would have no problem with the work he is trying to do. Is it worth the pain? Yes. I may not see it right away, but when I do, it’s always beautiful. I see how big God is. I see how he really does know everything. I see how he loves me and others around me. When he molds me, he is making me better, which leads to better interactions with friends and family. There is a ripple effect. I need to listen to the Holy Spirit when he is prompting me to do something. I need to be pliable. I need to accept the corrections. I need to decide everyday who my potter will be.
P~ Lord Jesus, thank you for wanting to be my potter. I want to get to the place where I am willing to be molded 100% of the time. I am your clay. Make me into whatever you desire! I am ready.
