Choose Your Path | Kim Chipman

S~ This is what the Lord says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’ Jeremiah 6:16 (NLT)

O~ Judah is rebelling. Earlier it says (v13) “from the least to the greatest their lives are ruled by greed…they are all frauds…(v14)…they offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wound…They give assurances of peace where there is no peace…” But… the Lord says to stop at the crossroads and look around. Choose to walk in the godly way. Travel the godly path to find rest for your souls.

A~ This reminds me of Isaiah 30:15 “This is what the Sovereign Lordthe Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.”

There is truly nothing new under the sun. This same invitation is open for me today. When I am at a crossroads – decision making time! – You give me free will to choose. I can choose the godly path (or not). I can choose You and Your peace OR superficial treatments for my mortal wounds and assurances of peace where there is no peace.

I love this song, and I love what the guy says at the beginning…God is always calling us deeper – He wants more of our heart – He wants more of our trust – we need to be prepared to get out of our comfort zone – it’s never what you think it is…

The thing I’m connecting with is that…it’s never what you think it is. Sometimes I feel like the godly path is way, way more scary when I’m looking at the options at the point of the crossroads. It requires me to be vulnerable and risk being hurt while the easier, more comfortable choice lures me…

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders…let me walk upon the waters…wherever You would call me…take me deeper than my feet could ever wander…that my faith would be made stronger in the presence of my Savior…

P~ Grow my faith and my trust! Help my unbelief! Help me to be brave and courageous and choose Your path every time. The path may look scarier at the beginning, but I can choose to trust that the end is ALWAYS better. I love You!

God’s Got This | Tara Wiley

S~ And they said,

‘We give thanks to You, Lord God, the Almighty,

the one who is and who always was,

‘For now You have assumed Your great power

and have begun to reign.

‘The nations were filled with wrath, but now the time of Your wrath has come… It is time to destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth.’ Revelation 11:17-18 (NLT)

O~ Today’s readings in Ezekiel and Revelation remind us that God’s power and plan supersede and far surpass any superpower’s on this earth.

The stunning view of heaven in Revelation – the shocking unveiling of God’s end-time plans – is both terrifying and comforting. Do I have any comprehension of God’s great power? Can I begin to understand His plan? No. But I can take comfort in knowing that no matter how frightening things look from my perspective, God’s got this, and in the end, He will bring justice and eventual peace.

A~ Last night, I glanced – it was all I could do to glance – at photos of persecuted Christians’ beheaded children. This is happening right now, and I feel powerless to stop it. It seems that no one is willing to stop it, and it makes me so angry, and sad, and yes, scared. What is this world coming to?

P~ God, my heart breaks for persecuted Christians all over the world. I cannot fathom their loss. I cannot comprehend their daily reality. Lord, I feel impotent in light of this terror… but You call me to pray, first and foremost, so I will pray. Every time that terrifying image comes to mind, I will pray. Every time I eat, I will pray. If you call me to fast, I will fast and pray. God, something must be done! Rescue Your people, Lord!

But this I know: You ARE powerful. You ARE mighty to save. Even this terror is part of the bigger picture, drawing us closer to The End, where You destroy these destroyers and reign in peace. Fill the persecuted Christians with this hope, Lord, to know their future is secure in You and You will be their Advocate. YOU WILL bring justice. You WILL set this right. Thank You, Almighty God!
