When crap happens…. | guest post

S~ When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)

O~ This is such a precious promise to me!

A~ How are there words for what happened in Las Vegas?  Lives lost, injuries sustained, the trauma of that night will live for a long time for the people there and rescue workers.  I just pray this over the people of Las Vegas and those who lost a loved one.  Jesus, You are with them.  As they are passing through the raging river, You will not allow the waves to sweep over them.  As people start walking through the hell of recovery from this, You will not allow them to get burned.

My friend who has had sorrow upon sorrow heaped on her, You are with her.  She is praying for Jesus to come back right now as she is walking through the fire that seems to have lasted years, You will not let her set fire.  Your promises are true and good and trustworthy!  Even by me.

As I’m facing my old demons that I can’t quite shake, You are with me.  As I’m passing through the river that seems to drown me every time I face it, the waves won’t sweep over me.

P~ Father, thank You for Your promises!  Father, be close to those in Las Vegas who lost someone, to those who witnessed the horror that happened.  Father, turn this tragedy into something good!  Open people’s hearts to find You!  Open the church doors in Las Vegas and let them hear the only Truth that matters.  Let my friend know how close You are to her in her trials, show her how You are not letting the flames devour her.

S~ I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:11‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

O~ No one is capable of saving me, except God.

No book is capable of saving me, except the Bible.

No religion is capable of saving me, only a personal relationship with God can.

A~ Where do I look for answers and help? Do I read self-help books before I read the Bible? Do I seek advice from friends before I seek God and his Word? Do I try to control the situation with my own strength and power? Seek FIRST the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33…) not second, third, or last, but have him be my go-to in all aspects of my life.

P~ Lord Jesus, thank you for wanting to be my Savior. Thank you for wanting to be my Lord, my guide, teacher, disciplinarian, and source of joy, peace, love, and happiness. You are my Savior and King. I will strive to seek you in the little and mundane areas of my life. I tend to forget to include you when I just go about my normal day. I am sorry for that. I want you in all areas of my life, everyday!

S~ You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Revelation 4:11 (NIV)

O/A ~  Each year as I go through my Bible reading plan, I seem to have a love/hate relationship with the Book of Revelation. I admit I am uneasy with some of the visions revealed to John in this God-inspired vision. I can’t fully grasp all the literal or symbolic elements. But what I appreciate most is the perspective these chapters offer in relation to our earthly woes. Whatever kind of day I may have had, whatever challenges I may have faced, they pale in comparison to the majesty of the Lord Almighty and the place where He dwells, a place where we will dwell with Him one day soon.

P~ Father, May I keep thoughts of heaven ever before me, lest I forget where I am going and how fleeting this life really is.

  1. “Light will shine out of darkness”
The darkness that almost daily happens in this world has already been given over to the Light that will come out of it.
It’s a promise to cling to for God is True and Trustworthy in all things.
    Thank you, God Almighty!
