End Times????? | Joni Tyner

S~ For I will shake the heavens.

The earth will move from its place

When the LORD of Heaven’s Armies displays his wrath

In the day of his fierce anger. Isaiah 13:13 (NLT)

O~ The book of Isaiah is hard to understand.  As I read the notes in my study Bible, I start to understand a little bit more.  This chapter is referencing events that will take place prior to Christ’s second coming.

A~ As I came into the kitchen this morning, my husband was reading the newspaper and telling me about an article about Mexico.  They had been hit by 3 earthquakes in the last couple of weeks as well a 2 hurricanes.  There have also been countless other hurricanes, storms and fires in other areas  as well.

So, this verse caught my eye.  Is this the beginning of end times?  I’ve had this conversation with a couple of people over the past couple of weeks.  And, the answer is—I don’t know.  I think it is the “beginning of the end”. But I honestly don’t know if the “end” is 2 months or 2000 years away.  This is what I do know.

“Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.”  2 John 1:6 NLT    (also in today’s reading)

There are lots of people who spends lots of time and brain cells trying to figure out all the details of what is going to happen as the end times approach.  I see that as secondary to 2 John 1:6.  We need to be doers of His Word.  Doing things like HELPING the victims from all the recent earthquakes and hurricanes.  Sacrificing personal time and activities to  show up in areas outside our comfort zone to feed, help and, most of all, encourage people that are struggling.  My friend just told me yesterday about how she spent her Friday night at the Ronald McDonald house.  She and a few other volunteers organized and then bought groceries and cooked, served and cleaned up a meal for 30 people staying there while their loved ones are hospitalized with serious illnesses..  They also spent time listening to their stories and I’m sure there were many prayers offered up for peace, guidance and healing.   I have another friend, Bonnie,  who is a young, Jesus-loving girl of 70 and is going to the Philippines in a couple of months to serve others with a mission trip..  She isn’t content to just watch this stuff on the news or donate a few bucks, she lives out her faith through her actions.  She doesn’t just talk her faith, she lives it. I’m inspired!!!!

On and on it goes.  God is calling us to action.  He wants us to love the person that is struggling 3 feet from us at work and to DO SOMETHING for the hurting world we live in.  I believe, to my core, God wants me to embrace loving others.

The. End.

P~ Dear Lord, create a burning in me to be your hands and feet.  I ask for energy, time and enthusiasm to live this verse out with excellence, joy and LOVE!

Consuming Passion | Kim Chipman

S~ Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “Passion for God’s house will consume me.” John 2:17 (NLT)

O~ This is referring to Jesus driving out the merchants from the Temple. He was passionate about honoring the Lord in the Temple.

A~ The Temple now…is my heart and the body of believers. Your Spirit lives within me. Do I have a passion for Your house that consumes me? Hmmmmm. No, I don’t.

P~ Lord, refresh my passion! Help me to be consumed by love and devotion to You and Your people. Undistracted. Not lukewarm but on fire! I love You~
