Providing Shade | Joni Tyner

S~ The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.  Proverbs 11:30 (NLT)

O~ The notes in my NLT Bible on the passage caught my eye.

“A wise person is a model of a meaningful life. Like a tree attracts people to its shade, a wise person’s sense of purpose attracts others who want to know how they, too, can find meaning. Gaining wisdom yourself can be the first step in leading people to God.“

A~ I love the visual of a people being attracted to the shade of a tree.  Think about it, if it is a hot day, people go to the shade.  It doesn’t matter if they are wealthy or homeless. Shade attracts people of all races and political parties—it, almost instantly, provides a welcome relief from the harshness of the sun.  The Bible scripture today is telling me that being wise will attract people like a tree’s shade on a hot day.  Being wise in a crazy, hectic world provides peace and calm and is a welcome respite to everyone.

P~ Dear Lord, please instill me with Godly wisdom. I desire to refresh others and this will only be done by Your spirit within me.  Give me discernment within my days to keep up my energy level to be available for others.  I pray for understanding of Your word and the ability to recall scripture to encourage others.  Please use me as a vessel to bring people to You.
