God Knows Everyone’s Heart | Deanna George
S~ then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know every human heart), 1 Kings 8:39 (NIV)
O~ God knows everyone’s heart, and he still never gives up on us.
A~ There are moments when I am ashamed of where my heart dwells because 1. My heart should not be there and 2. God knows my thoughts and feelings. In those moments of disappointment, it is so easy to choose to chase the negative thoughts and dwell on my shortcomings. I have to choose to leave that mental path of self-doubt, discouragement, and unworthiness of God’s love. I can get so discouraged with myself, but there is no reason to dwell in the pit. God knows everyone’s heart and he does not buckle under that knowledge. He is willing to guide me and teach me through issues that taint my heart. I love that he never gives up on me or anyone else!
P~ Lord Jesus, thank you for this reminder that you can handle whatever I am dealing with. Your strength and patience has been proven time and time again in my life. Thank you for the guidance, encouragement, and even the discipline to cultivate my heart into one that dwells on you.
Wresting | Nikki Metzger
S~ …He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. Colossians 4:12b (NIV)
O~ Paul is writing about a servant of Christ Jesus who is praying for this church. My bible notes say this man was a leader of this church and had a deep love for the people.
A~ I love this description of prayer: Wrestling. So that the people will stand firm in God’s will. That is so beautiful.
I’ve been wrestling with the Lord in prayer for a friend. It’s been almost two years, things aren’t better, they are worse. How can it be? Maybe my prayer needs to change from give her peace and healing to having her stand firm in ALL the will of God, so she is mature and fully assured?
P~ Father, when I think of my sweet friend, I have to remember Your truths: You ways are higher than mine. You work out things for those who love You for their good and Your glory. Everything meant for evil, You turn beautiful in Your time. Lord, see my friend! Her pain, the trauma, the health crisis, the finances, her children, her thoughts, her depression. Lord, may she stand firm in Your will! Lord, mature her and make her FULLY assured of who she is and who You are! I love You! And Lord, please never let me get lackadaisical about wresting in prayer for her! I pray this in Jesus’ Name!
