My Temple | Kim Chipman
S~ This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods. 2 Chronicles 2:5 (NLT)
O~ Solomon is beginning the work to build the Temple as instructed by David (who passed along the plan God had given him).
A~ I have long struggled with Kings and Chronicles. Clearly, anything in the Bible is important, but every time I read through I hope to gain some insight into what is so crucial in these passages that You would record it all TWICE.
The building of the Temple sticks out this time. How does this apply to me? Right now? Well, I need to use great care in building MY temple in my heart. Your Word gives me LOTS of instructions about what You would like my heart to look like. Am I doing the work to make my Temple magnificent? You are worthy!
The other Temple I need to tend to is my body. I can be more fruitful for You in a healthy body. It is my responsibility to take care of it, no one else’s. I know I need to be better in this area.
You do not live in a physical building. you live within ME. I am Your Temple. You are worthy of the sacrifice and effort required to build You a healthy, magnificent Temple.
P~ Help me to see in my daily-ness that I can continually choose to honor You with every small decision. I can choose You or me. Help me to choose to meditate on Your Truth so that my heart would stay aligned to Yours. Help me to remember that every choice of food, drink, or exercise (or not) is a brick in YOUR Temple. I love You!
Holy, without blemish, accusation free | Nikki Metzger
S~ But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation Colossians 1:22 (NIV)
O/A ~ I don’t think there has ever been a time in my life where I didn’t have accusation about food, my weight, and all the emotional energy surrounding it. People never accused me, but the enemy would pour shame and guilt over me.
Standing where I am today and surveying the last 30 some years, or even my time as a disciple of Jesus; I would not feel comfortable being presented to God my Father as holy, without blemish, or free from accusation. Why not? There’s always something with me; some hidden sin or guilt or something in me that’s not quite good enough for my Father.
But when I read this verse – it’s Jesus’ death that reconciles me to my Father. Jesus is the One who makes me holy, without blemish, and free from accusation. Drop the mic – it’s done! And I had NOTHING to do with it!
I don’t know if it was my awesome christian counselor, my recent health diagnosis, or Jesus giving me eyes to see differently – but I’m farther in my walk with God and understanding these things about me and food than I have ever been in my life! This is my struggle, this is my doubt: Will God ever be able to heal me with all my issues with food? Because of the millions of times that I’ve failed, I really doubted that God could help me!
Proverbs 24:16 says: for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again….
P~ Father, I know that You will not bring me down by calamity. Thank You! Thank You for my never ending struggle with food – I see You in it now. Jesus, You are so precious to me! Thank You for making me holy, free of accusation and without blemish! I love You, I am Yours!
