You Are Just | Kim Chipman
S~ The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble. 1 Samuel 26:23-24 (NIV)
O~ Once again, David had an opportunity to kill Saul – or have him killed. Again, instead of killing him he took a token of evidence that he was there – Saul’s spear and water jug – but trusted God. David knew what honored God and he chose it. He had complete faith that God could see the situation and He is just.
A~ While I’ve read these stories zillions of times before, this strikes me fresh this time through. David had every opportunity and reason to take Saul out.
When I feel attacked I want to have this level of trust in You and not take matters into my own hands. Grow my trust and reverence! I see my need to go deeper in this area.
P~ Help! I can’t do this without You. I want to honor and glorify You! I love You!
Thoughts captive | Nikki Metzger
S~ We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
O/A~ This is how I overcome….take every thought captive, and it’s a lot of thoughts. When I can take my thoughts, beliefs, reasoning and hold it to truth, I know what is really truth and what isn’t.
At this stage of my life, my brain functioning/decision making process is fast, I’ve had a lot of years to train my brain. Slowing down my thoughts and measuring them against eternal truth will take time. But I need this pause to take my thoughts captive.
After four months of a complete lifestyle overhaul – diet, sleep, stress, and environmental changes, I got my blood work back. Virtually, no change in my labs. This means that all those lifestyle changes didn’t really make me better, according to my blood work.
It has been easy to despair and be really frustrated about this, and have the attitude of it doesn’t matter anyway, so I might as well live without constraint. But the truth is, I need to take my thoughts captive about this blood work and hold it up to truth.
My lab values don’t define me. I am the daughter of the MOST HIGH. He has plans to prosper me and give me a future, He has good will towards me. I am not alone in this fight for my health.
I read a quote that said: the Bible never once says, ‘Figure it out’, But over and over it says, ‘trust God’. I love that.
P~ Father, I’m trusting You in this! My thoughts go crazy, so I’m going to take my thoughts captive and hold it up to You. My goodness, I cannot do this in my own power, I need Your supernatural ability to do this in my life. I love You!
