Releasing My Children | Kim Chipman

S~ I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV)

O~ Hannah wasn’t able to have children and she prayed to the Lord for one. She promised to give him to the Lord for His service if she did have a son. She did exactly what she promised when Samuel was very small, just after he was weaned.

A~ My kids are all in the teen/tween place and I’m having a hard time giving them to You and releasing them. Unlike Hannah I did not experience barrenness, but like Hannah I prayed for each of my children and my prayer was answered – double the 3rd time around with our surprise twins! My brain knows I can trust them to Your care, but my heart still tries to control/teach/train/guide. I know it’s a balance because I need to teach…but not micromanage control forever. It’s hard to release them to You. I messed up big time in my young adult years. They might also! I want to save them the pain of negative consequences, but I can’t live their lives for them.

P~ Lord, help me to follow the example of Hannah and release my children to You. I know they are Yours. I know I can trust You. Help my heart to catch up to my brain. I love You!

Wow, only You Lord! | Nikki Metzger

S~ Come and see what God has done, how awesome His works in man’s behalf!  Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me. Psalm 66: 5, 16 (NIV)

O~ The author recognizes the miracles that God does, like part the seas.  He also recognizes the miracles that are done on the inside of himself by God.

A~ How precious are those miracles that God has completed inside of me!  Going back over old journals, it’s miracle after miracle after miracle.  God has done awesome things in my life, quietly inside of me and outwardly too.

P~ Father, thank You!!  You have worked mightily in my life.  I want to shout and praise for all You have done!  Thank You for letting me see it!  I love You!
