Line Myself up to You | Luisa Penaherrera

S~ Rather you must seek the Lord your God at the place he himself will choose from among all the tribes for his name to be honored.  Deuteronomy 12:5 (NLT)

O~ The Israelites were told not to worship God the way the people in the land worshiped their gods, but instead to seek God in the place of his choosing.

A~ My God is alive and powerful, he is the creator of the earth and everything in it, and yet I am tempted to think that he thinks as I do and what I think is ok, he will too.  Instead I need to line myself up to him. I need to seek my God in my mess and ask him what he wants me to do in the situation.

P~ Father, I will look for you today.  I will listen for your voice as you direct me.  Thank you for your truth, your guidance, and your strength.  Thank you.

So That It May Always Go Well With Me | Kim Chipman

S~ Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 12:28 (NIV)

O~ I’m reminded that Your ways, Your leading, Your voice guiding, Your regulations…are all a road map to honor You so all may go well with me and my children. Not to  make me miserable or take away my enjoyment! You came that I may have life and life to the full!

A~ Am I living this way? Believing it’s true? That You have my very best in mind? Or do I think I know better? I know Your voice and can hear Your guidance. Sometimes I just don’t want to do it. I’m probably missing out on blessings and Your best for me because my flesh wants what it wants right in that moment.

P~ Lord, grow my trust! Grow my desire to honor You so it’s greater and more urgent than my desires for comfort and pleasure. I love You!

Worship God | Deanna George

S~ It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4 (NIV)

O~ This chapter is about worshiping other gods, and God placed this little gem of a reminder of who to worship. It is a guideline to help us when we allow ourselves to be around others who gave other gods as their source of a higher being. It is our responsibility to not allow ourselves to be influenced by situations and people that promote having their source of strength, love, and redemption come from anything/anyone other than God.

A~ What or who is interfering with me worshiping the one true God? Am I getting distracted by my to-do list, tv shows, running the kids 50 million places, or just mundane activities? I need to be vigilant in choosing to worship God daily so my defenses are strong when I encounter situations/people that may want to redirect my focus away from God. I need to pay attention to what I may be placing before God in importance. I do not worship other gods, but I do allow other things to become more important than my relationship with God and then it becomes a long distant relationship before I know it.

P~ Lord Jesus, thank you for this reminder of what I am called to do. I am taking notice to what I I allow to become more important than you. Help open my eyes to see the areas that I have a stronghold on. I want you yo be my number one priority so that I may worship you through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Go and Make | Kelley Deases

S~ Go to this people and say,’You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.’ For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes.Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them. Acts 28:26-27 (NIV)

O~  I spend a majority of my time with people who speak my language. I don’t mean English; I mean Christian. My son attends a private Christian school. My team at work are all believers. I host a ladies Bible study every Friday and most of my friends are people I picked up from various churches or church groups I attended at one time or the other. I love the fellowship and support and refinement I receive from mature mentors, but I am doing little in the way of going and making disciples in this season of my life.

A~ At our church, the kids in Sunday school made gift bags filled with goodies and an invitation to Easter service so the kids could have a fun way to invite a non-churched friend or neighbor. At long last, my son thought of someone he knows who does not already have a church home — a kid he knows through book club at the library. Last Sunday, after church, quite a few volunteers, kids and adults, gathered to assemble 2,000 more gift bags, also to be used to invite people to our Easter celebration. I am still at a loss as to who I might invite.

P~ Father, the Apostle Paul allowed himself to be led into strange and scary places in obedience to Your call. Push me out of my comfort zone into the messy, hurting world who needs to hear the message I have come to know because someone first told me.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
