Stand By Me | Kelley Deases

S~ …but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:13 (NIV)

O~ In response to the disciples’ questions, Jesus is speaking of the tumult to come in the end times. Wars, wickedness, false prophets, persecution, and on and on.

A~  And here I sit this morning, calling today a bad day because my son “forgot” about having homework all weekend until this morning before school and then sat and stared at his paper crying for an hour, claiming it was too hard. I also checked my bank account to find an erroneous charge, a bank error, which, after three frustrating phone calls, is still not resolved and will likely require a visit to the branch location in person by both my husband and me. Then my husband comes home from working the night shift into this chaos — kid having a meltdown and me on the phone to our bank — and now he is on edge, too.

But, seriously, in the grand scene of life, the world as we know it, and eternity, what do these trivialities matter? I had only to open my Bible and read a few verses in to hear Jesus’ voice telling me these inconveniences pale in the face of life and death and Heaven and Hell.

P~ Jesus, A single word from You and my heart is set aright. It matters not what small bumps I may receive in the course of a day. It matters only that You are standing with me and that I always stand with You.
