Spiritual Battle, Spiritual Weapons | Luisa Penaherrera
S~ Then the Devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, change these stones into loaves of bread.”
But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God.’”
Then the Devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He orders his angels to protect you. And they will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.’”
Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Do not test the Lord your God.’”
Next the Devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him the nations of the world and all their glory. “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will only kneel down and worship me.”
“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him, “for the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God; serve him only.’”
Then the Devil went away and angels came and cared for Jesus. Matthew 4:3-11 (NLT)
O~ Jesus shows me here how to fight the Devil and his schemes: with Scripture, with truth. Even Satan used Scripture to try to trick Jesus, but Jesus knew who he was and he didn’t need to prove it, he just needed to be who he was (is) and whose he was (is).
A~ I need to always come back to that truth, who the Scriptures say I am and whose I am. I don’t need to prove it to anyone, but live it. I need to remember that’s what the Devil wants me to doubt.
P~ Father, I feel that when I am trying to prove myself it’s probably pride. Help me to stand firm on your truth instead of trying to prove myself. To armor up for the battle!
Am I really fishing? | Deanna George
S~ “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, ” and I will send you out to fish for people.” Matthew 4:19 (NIV)
O~ Jesus is asking Simon (Peter) and his brother Andrew to stop fishing for fish and come help spread the word of who Christ is and the salvation he can provide. Jesus wants them to “fish for people.”
A~ Am I really “fishing” for people? Or am I just keeping to my circle of influence? My heart wants to believe that I am doing enough to share who Christ is, but I’m hearing that I need to be more proactive. I need to be ready and willing to share. I need to step out of my comfort zone.
P~ Lord Jesus, I hear you! I want to share how awesome you are. Help me overcome my shyness and become bold in situations that I don’t feel comfortable in. Open my ears so that I may hear you and share what you want me to share. I’m tired of feeling worried that I may offend someone or that I may sound pushy. I don’t want to do either of those things, but I want to present you in a loving way that encourages people. Please give me strength and wisdom of what to say so that I may go “fish for people.”
Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
