Just Right for the Job | Robin Laney

S~ The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.” Acts 23:11 (ESV)

O~ Paul had gone from a murderous brute to humbled servant to persecuted Christian and missionary to the Gentiles. Roman by birth, Jewish by faith, Christ follower by God’s will. Each step of the way, God created, molded, trained, and equipped Paul for the work He had for him. He sent him to places only Paul could go to reach people others couldn’t.  Paul’s salvation, transformation, and calling could only have happened through God’s power for God’s glory.

A~ It’s really mind-boggling when I sit and consider the order and circumstances of my life, past and present. If I consider the time and place of my birth, the family I was set in, the places I have traveled, the people I have met, the past experiences that shape who I am and how I perceive life, the power of the Holy Spirit who has and continues to grow me and reform me for the next thing, and all of the ways God has allowed me to be part of what He is doing at just the right time with just the right equipping, I am blown away by His sovereignty and wisdom.

Every opportunity He has given has helped to prepare me for the next one. He has not wasted a single detail of my life. He uses every hurt, every joy, every mistake, and every victory for His glory. I can’t say I have never felt in over my head but I can say that He has never asked me to do anything He hasn’t equipped me for or for which he hasn’t been faithful to give me on the job training. As I take inventory of where He has had me and where I am now, what He has taught me, the strengths He has given me and the weaknesses He continues to build on, and the possibilities for the future, I wonder what He has next for me. Whatever it is, I am confident that He will use it all for His glory and through it prepare me for what He has for me in the future.

P~ Thank you, Lord, for the story that is my life. Living knowing that you have a plan and a purpose for me is so much richer than believing my days are purely happenstance or a matter of fate or luck. I am thankful for every experience that I have had so far and am eager to see how you will use each one in the future. Open my eyes to see what you have for me each day.
