Simply Obey | Luisa Penaherrera
S~ but they refused. “No,” they said. “We don’t drink wine, because Jehonadab son of Recab, our ancestor, gave us this command: ‘You and your descendants must never drink wine. And do not build houses or plant crops or vineyards, but always live in tents. If you follow these commands, you will live long, good lives in the land. So we have obeyed him in all these things. We have never had a drink of wine since then, nor have our wives, our sons, or our daughters. We haven’t built houses or owned vineyards or farms or planted crops. We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed all the commands of Jehonadab, our ancestor. Jeremiah 35:6-10 (NLT)
O~ This verse speaks of the Recabites. God used them as an example for the Israelites of how to obey him.
Verse 14: The Recabites do not drink wine because their ancestor Jehonadab told them no to. But I have spoken to you again and again, and you refuse to listen or obey.
A~ As the Recabites simply (not easy but simple) obeyed, I can too. This area with my thoughts and anxiety sometimes gets the best of me. Maybe its that I just simply (not easy but simple) need to obey you: trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5,6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:6-8
P~ Father, your word, your truth gives my heart and mind peace and rest, thank you for it, please help me to simply obey. When it gets hard please give me the strength and motivation to do it.

S~ Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 30:30-31 (NIV)
O~ I love the simplicity of this truth. Not every single thing about Jesus is recorded in the Bible, but the Lord chose what should be in there so that we would believe and be saved.
A~ Sometimes I feel like things are complicated. Really, it isn’t. Your principles are *simple* so that ALL may come to You by believing. I feel like the enemy wants my heart confused and overwhelmed. Neither of those are from You. Your Word is recorded that I may believe and have life. Simple.
P~ Lord, help me to slow down my brain and focus on Your truths. When I’m feeling confused or overwhelmed help me to stop and think on truth, Your truth, so that even in this crazy world I may have life in Your Name! I love You!
