A People Saved by the Lord | Vicki Burns

S~ Blessed are you, O Israel!

Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord?

He is your shield and helper

and your glorious sword.

Your enemies will cower before you and you will trample down their high places.  Deuteronomy 33:29 (NIV)

O~ We are indeed blessed! And why? Because He saved us! Unmerited favor will always baffle me. A people chosen without merit by God’s sovereign will. This blessing on Israel follows the song of Moses which details exactly how Israel will fall short. Yet, God has set His love on them and He saves them! It was all prophesied before Israel ever crossed the Jordan. It’s astounding!

A~ The Gospel is scandalous! Our holy God “chose us in Him before the creation of the world!” Ephesians 1:4 (NIV)

Imagine! We are so thoroughly loved it is beyond our wildest imagining. Our favor is absolutely NOT contingent upon any merit of our own, yet, the Almighty has “saved” us! He shields us and is our “Helper and glorious sword.” Our Great God goes to war over us! He makes us victorious.

P~ Your grace, oh God, is unfathomable! You work valiantly through feeble vessels of clay to tear down anything exalted deceptively by the enemy. I want to be a skillful destroyer of the works of satan. I want to be full of zeal for Your holy name! May Your Word, work and will get You glory through me, a worm chosen in Christ.

To God be the glory forever and ever! Amen!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
