Return to Me | Kim Chipman
S~ Amos 4 (NLT)
v6 I brought hunger…and famine…
v9 I struck your farms…
v10 I sent plagues…I killed young men in war…
v11 I destroyed some of your cities…
v6, 8, 9, 10, 11…”But still you would not return to me,” says the Lord.
O~ God is speaking to Israel. They (like us) had choices and they did not choose God.
A~ I look around at current events and, to be honest, this world is discouraging and depressing. So much hate and violence and critical judgement…even in the church. So. Awful. Pride. Self seeking. Shootings. Isis. Sex trafficking. Divorce. Discontent. Hunger. Orphans. Pornography. Secret sins. Disobedience.
Reading this, however, helps me to remember that there is truly nothing new under the sun. Since the beginning of humans we have wanted to do things our own way instead of Yours. What if all this evil is being allowed now, just like then, to get our attention? To get MY attention. You haven’t historically used glitter and rainbows and unicorns to get us to return to You. You have used adversity. Hey! Kim! I want you to return to me! Pick Me! Pick Me!
~Those thoughts? (Yes, Kim, each one.) Pick Me!
~That heart? Pick Me! (before it gets hard)
~Every word? (before they fly!) Pick Me!
~In your relationships? Pick Me! (sometimes it might look like the other person is the enemy…but the battle is a spiritual one, kind of invisible. Those people in your life are not the ones to battle. Battle the enemy. Love the people. I see you, Kim.)
~With your body/physical health? Pick Me! (put down the chips…get off your rear and move more, Kim.)
I hear You! You want me to return to You – to pick You. You want it for me and all of humanity. You are trying to get our attention. Wake UP! Quit being so wishy washy – lukewarm – anything goes – what’s the big deal sort of disciples. Life is short and it all matters.
P~ Help me to see exactly where I need to intentionally return to You. Show me today how I can live for You. I love You!
No One | Jill Terry
S~ There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like Yours. Psalm 86:8 (NAS)
O~ There are many imitators of God that people follow, but they do not compare to Him. So many people search and search for something to fill their lives with hope and happiness. They keep hoping something will fill the empty spaces of their lives, yet nothing ever does. Jesus is the only way to peace.
A~ It took me far too many years to understand that the only thing capable of making me happy was my faith.
P~ Lord, thank you for my faith and the changes it has brought to my life. Amen
